Admissions Process

Children are evaluated on the basis of readiness for school and potential for success in a Montessori environment. It is equally important to determine whether the parents’ educational philosophy is compatible with that of PIMDS. The admissions process consists of an interview with the Director, a parent observation visit, an evaluation of the child by a teacher, and submission of application form. Older children may be asked to spend additional time in the classroom prior to acceptance for admission.

Renewal of Enrollment

Re-enrollment takes place in late February and early March. Requirements for enrollment include payment of all fees, teacher recommendations, and submission of any necessary forms. A student’s re-enrollment is subject to approval by the Pawleys Island Montessori Day School.

Termination of Enrollment

Pawleys Island Montessori Day School reserves the right to terminate the enrollment of any child for any reason, provided written notice of termination is provided to the parents of that child and the parents have had prior notification of the attempts made to correct the reasons for termination.
