Parents
Parent involvement is both needed and valued at PIMDS. We believe that parents are our most important partners, advocates, and supporters of the school. In an effort to maximize parent involvement, we aim to offer a range of activities which accommodates different schedules, preferences, and capabilities. Parent involvement - whether it is participation in school events, volunteering in the classroom, or sharing gifts, time, or talents - is the key ingredient in the continued success of our school.
Parent involvement not only benefits the school. Numerous research studies have shown that parents’ involvement in their children’s school has positive effects on students’:
- Academic achievement
- Attitudes
- Self-concept
- Social behavior
- Attendance
Here are just a few of the ways you can get involved at PIMDS:
- Serve on one of our standing committees (Finance, Education, Fundraising, Marketing/Public Relations, Long-Range Planning, Social/Special Events, Buildings/Grounds)
- Serve as a room mom or dad;
- Help with or participate in fund-raising events;
- Volunteer in the classroom (e.g., with reading, art);
- Making tax-deductible monetary gifts to the school’s general fund, or toward a specific need (e.g., playground equipment);
- Volunteer in our office, helping with copies, mailings, typing, etc.
